Computing

From the integration of the Internet in the early 1990s to the explosion in mobile communication in the 2000s, computer technology has helped mould the way we live. Our society needs individuals who are aware of the application of computers in everyday use; for work and leisure, and that are able to adapt to an ever changing world.

In Computing our aim is to deliver a coherent and dynamic curriculum from S1 to S6, providing pupils with a wealth of knowledge and understanding in all aspects of computing. In S2, our course is aimed at developing skills in various design orientated environments, giving first hand experience of graphic manipulation, animation, video, databases and web development.

We offer students SQA certificate courses from S3-S6 including Standard Grade Computing in S3/S4, Higher Computing in S5/S6 and Advanced Higher Computing in S6. These courses are designed to engage pupils in a wide range of problem solving activities and teach them how to design and build computer programmes. Pupils will develop practical skills using software such as the Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite and programming skills using Microsoft Visual Basic.
