The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) strives to support the learning, teaching and information needs of the pupils and staff within the school by providing an appropriate range of good quality and relevant resources to support the curriculum. Reading for pleasure is promoted throughout the school and this is supported by an online Accelerated Reading programme (see www.renlearn.co.uk for further details) which is used by pupils from P3 to S2.
Our non-fiction section is augmented by subscriptions to the safe research sites - Heinemann World Book Online and Carel Press Weblinks Research.
The LRC boasts 20 computers which are available for use by secondary pupils at break, lunch and after school, and are used extensively during school time by teaching staff throughout the whole school for class activities which require computer research.
For our senior pupils, the LRC provides a quiet and comfortable place to study, read and use computers for school work. The Careers section is also to be found within the LRC.
